Precautions

This medication belongs to the fluoroquinolone antibiotic class and is used for the treatment of bacterial infections. Care must be taken when taking this medication as serious side effects such as tendonitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system disturbances, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis may occur. In particular, patients with myasthenia gravis should not use this medication as their symptoms may worsen. Additionally, this medication should only be used when no other treatment options are available for specific infections such as acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated urinary infections, and acute otitis media. Elderly patients, those with compromised kidney function, organ transplant recipients, and those taking concomitant corticosteroids are at increased risk of tendon rupture, so concurrent use should be avoided. If symptoms of tendon pain, inflammation, or tendon rupture occur while taking this medication, you should immediately stop taking it and rest. Patients with myasthenia gravis should be especially cautious as this medication can exacerbate neuromuscular blocking effects. Those with hypersensitivity to this medication or prior history of tendonitis or tendon rupture caused by this medication or similar drugs, children below 18 years of age, pregnant or nursing women, and patients with epilepsy should not be treated with this medication. Patients with severe renal impairment, central nervous system disorders, history of seizures, those taking certain anti-inflammatory drugs or theophylline, elderly patients, and diabetic patients taking glucose-lowering drugs should be administered this medication with caution. This medication can cause severe allergic reactions, psychiatric disturbances, heart rhythm abnormalities, kidney and liver functional impairment, blood abnormalities, gastrointestinal disturbances, musculoskeletal problems, and severe skin reactions, so you must immediately consult a doctor if unusual symptoms arise. During the treatment, avoid strong sunlight or exposure to artificial UV light, and be cautious of dizziness or drowsiness when driving or operating machinery. Additionally, since there may be drug interactions, be sure to inform your doctor of any medications you are taking, especially when taking antacids, iron supplements, calcium supplements, blood sugar-lowering agents, and anticoagulants. Pregnant or nursing mothers should not use this medication, nor should it be given to growing children or adolescents. Elderly patients should adjust the dosage and interval due to decreased kidney function that may increase drug concentrations, and should discontinue use immediately if liver toxicity symptoms arise. In case of overdose, central nervous system symptoms and heart abnormalities may occur, so immediate medical treatment is necessary. Animal studies have reported joint abnormalities, and safety has not been established in growing children, so it should not be administered.
