This medication is used for the treatment of recurrent or persistent acute otitis media and recurrent acute sinusitis in pediatric patients. It is particularly effective for children under 2 years old or those attending daycare with recent antibiotic experience for these conditions in the past 3 months. This drug acts against key bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Moraxella catarrhalis, and is also effective against beta-lactamase-producing strains. Thus, it is suitable for treating such infections. It is used to improve recurrent otitis media and sinusitis in children.

Patients with gastrointestinal disorders may experience decreased effectiveness due to improper absorption of the medication. Although this medication is generally safe, side effects such as diarrhea, vomiting, and skin rashes may occur, so if symptoms are severe, consulting a doctor is recommended. Liver dysfunction or severe allergic reactions, and blood abnormalities have been reported rarely, and regular monitoring may be required. It is not recommended for infants under 3 months where safety has not been confirmed. This medication can interact with other drugs, so if any other medications are being taken, it is essential to inform a doctor or pharmacist. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms and renal dysfunction may occur, requiring adequate hydration and appropriate treatment. This medication should only be used for treating infections and is not effective against viral infections, so it should not be stopped or misused.
