Precautions

This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic and may cause certain serious side effects, so caution is necessary. During treatment with this drug, symptoms such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system adverse symptoms may occur. If any of these symptoms occur, immediately discontinue the medication and consult with medical personnel. Patients with myasthenia gravis may experience worsening symptoms when taking this medication, so it is not administered to them. Additionally, this drug is used only for limited indications, such as acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. When this drug is used in combination with corticosteroid agents, the risk of tendon rupture is increased, so such combinations should be avoided. Elderly patients, patients with renal impairment, and solid organ transplant recipients may have an increased risk of tendon rupture and should be monitored carefully. This medication can induce seizures or increase the risk of seizures, so patients with a history of epilepsy or central nervous system disorders should be treated cautiously. Serious allergic reactions, such as hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis, can occur rarely, and photosensitivity reactions may also occur, so it is advisable to avoid sunlight exposure. Dizziness, drowsiness, and visual disturbances may occur, requiring caution when driving or operating machinery. This drug may affect liver and kidney function, and immediate reporting to medical personnel is required if any unusual symptoms develop. It is not administered to pregnant or potentially pregnant women, nursing mothers, or children and adolescents under 18 years of age. This drug may interact with other medications, especially blood glucose-lowering agents, anticoagulants, theophylline, and antacids, so caution is required when taking these together. Diabetic patients requiring blood glucose control should monitor changes in blood glucose carefully and seek immediate treatment if symptoms of hypoglycemia occur. If serious skin reactions, respiratory distress, palpitations, or abdominal pain occur during treatment, discontinue the medication immediately and consult with medical personnel. In cases of overdose, cardiac rhythm abnormalities or central nervous system symptoms may occur, requiring prompt treatment and observation. To use this medication safely, it is important to adhere to the exact dosage and administration as directed by medical personnel and to promptly report any unusual symptoms.
