Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients who are allergic to certain ingredients or have had hypersensitivity. In particular, it is contraindicated in patients with severely impaired kidney function or those undergoing dialysis. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should also avoid taking this medication. It should not be given to infants under 1 year of age and should only be administered as a liquid form to children under 6 years of age. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be used in patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic conditions. Patients with renal or hepatic impairment and elderly patients should take caution as the blood concentration of this medication may be elevated. When taking this medication, central nervous system symptoms such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness may occur; therefore, caution is needed when engaging in tasks that require concentration, such as driving or operating machinery. Also, taking it with alcohol or other central nervous system depressants may exacerbate these symptoms, so it is advisable not to take them together. This medication may affect urine output, thus patients at risk for urinary retention, such as those with spinal injuries or benign prostatic hyperplasia, should use with caution. There is a possibility of interactions with other medications, so it is important not to mix it with alcohol, and if you are taking other medications, consult with your doctor or pharmacist. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication as there are not enough safety studies conducted yet. In children under 12 years of age, the dosage should be cautiously adjusted, and it should not be used in infants under 1 year of age. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function, so blood levels of the drug may be elevated, thus it is advisable to start with a lower dose and closely monitor their condition. This medication should be discontinued before allergy testing, as it may affect the test results. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, anxiety, and restlessness may appear, and since there is no specific antidote, treatment based on the symptoms is required. Because it is difficult to eliminate this medication via dialysis, prompt medical assistance is necessary in case of an overdose.
