Treatment of infections of the respiratory system (pneumonia, bronchitis) and reproductive system (gonorrhea)
This medication is effective against various bacteria and is primarily used for the treatment of respiratory infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis. It is also effective for infections in the ENT (ear, nose, throat) area, kidney and urinary tract infections, and reproductive infections such as gonorrhea. It can be used for the prevention and treatment of systemic infections such as sepsis. It is applicable for the prevention of infections before and after surgery and for the treatment of bone and joint infections. It is also used for the treatment of skin, wound, soft tissue infections, peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis, and gastrointestinal infections. Additionally, it helps treat infections and meningitis in patients with compromised immune function. This drug is used to aid in the rapid recovery of patients facing extensive infections.
For adults and children over 12 years old, administer 1-2 g (potency) of ceftriaxone once daily by intravenous or intramuscular injection. For infections caused by severe pathogens or pathogens showing moderate susceptibility, the dosage can be increased up to 4 g (potency) once daily. Elderly patients may follow the same dosing regimen as adults without requiring dosage adjustments. For the treatment of gonorrhea, a single intramuscular injection of 250 mg (potency) is recommended. For prevention of post-surgical infections,
For neonates (up to 14 days old), administer 20-50 mg (potency) per kg of body weight once daily, not exceeding 50 mg (potency) per kg. For infants and children (15 days to 12 years old), the dosage is based on body weight.
This medication may be hazardous if mixed with or administered simultaneously with solutions or medications containing calcium. In particular, it should not be used in neonates due to the risk of precipitation when calcium and this medication are combined. Special caution is needed as neonates or preterm infants receiving this medication can develop precipitates in the lungs and kidneys, leading to fatal outcomes. Individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication or allergies to cephalosporins or penicillin antibiotics should not use it. Moreover, if allergic to the lidocaine component contained in this medication, avoid intramuscular injection and intravenous administration is prohibited. Neonates with jaundice, hypoalbuminemia, or acidosis are at risk of developing bilirubin encephalopathy while using this medication, hence it should not be administered. Patients with severely decreased renal function may experience elevated drug concentrations, necessitating dosage adjustments or changes in administration intervals. Patients with a history of medication allergies or allergic constitution should use this drug cautiously and consult a physician if necessary. Common side effects may include diarrhea, rash, increased liver enzymes, etc., while severe allergic reactions or kidney impairment may occur rarely. During medication administration, carefully monitor for adverse reactions and immediately inform healthcare personnel if symptoms arise. Similar to other antibiotics, this drug should only be used for the necessary duration to minimize the emergence of resistant bacteria, and kidney and liver function tests should be conducted regularly during treatment. Additionally, as this medication can affect blood coagulation, patients at risk of bleeding should check their condition through blood tests. Caution is advised in pregnant or nursing women as administration may impact the fetus or neonate. Children and the elderly require special attention, especially elders who may face increased risks of side effects due to decreased bodily function. This medication may cause dizziness when driving or operating machinery, hence caution is required. When administering the drug, do not administer it together with calcium-containing solutions and ensure safe use by managing the injection site and administering slowly. If any abnormal symptoms occur while using this medication, stop administration immediately and seek appropriate treatment from healthcare personnel.
