Effective for treating respiratory infections and urinary tract infections
This drug works against various bacteria, including Escherichia coli, Shigella, and Salmonella, and is used for respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis, as well as community-acquired pneumonia. It is also effective for infections of the ear, nose, and throat, bacterial prostatitis, acute uncomplicated cystitis, acute pyelonephritis, and complicated urinary tract infections. Additionally, it is used for treating infections such as gonococcal cervicitis, urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, and infections of the biliary tract, as well as skin and soft tissue infections, wound infections, and bone and joint infections. This drug is applicable to a variety of infections, including gynecological infections and peritonitis. However, due to serious adverse reactions, it is recommended that it only be used when other treatment methods are unavailable for cases such as acute bacterial sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections. This drug is effectively used for treating several bacterial infections.
For typical adult treatment with ciprofloxacin, the recommended dose is 250 ~ 500 mg per dose, taken orally twice daily between meals. In cases of severe complicated infections, the dose may be increased to 750 mg per dose, taken orally twice daily. For acute infections, treatment usually lasts for 5 ~ 10 days, and at least 3 additional days of therapy is recommended after symptoms have resolved. In patients with renal impairment, the dosage should be adjusted based on the creatinine clearance. Adjustments should be made according to symptoms.
