This medication is used as an adjunct when dietary measures and exercise are insufficient for patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It is also used as an adjunct in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia alongside other lipid-lowering therapies. It helps lower total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia, delaying the progression of atherosclerosis. It can be used as a dietary adjunct for pediatric patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia who exceed certain criteria, and it is also suitable as a dietary adjunct for patients with primary dysbetalipoproteinemia. Moreover, it assists in reducing the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and vascular revascularization in adults at high risk for cardiovascular disease. Thus, it is effectively used for various types of dyslipidemias and the reduction of cardiovascular disease risk.
