For uncomplicated cystitis, administer for about 7 days. ○ Patients with renal impairment 1) If creatinine clearance is 30~120mL/min, administer according to the standard dosage and administration above. 2) If creatinine clearance is 29mL/min or less, administer 50% of the standard dose at the standard dosing interval. This drug is primarily used for the treatment of upper and lower respiratory infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and uncomplicated urinary tract infections. Upper respiratory infections include pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, and acute sinusitis, with Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, influenza bacteria, and Moraxella catarrhalis as causative organisms. Lower respiratory infections include secondary bacterial infections in acute bronchitis and acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. Skin and soft tissue infections include uncomplicated skin infections and abscesses requiring surgical drainage, with staphylococci and Streptococcus pyogenes being the main causative organisms. Additionally, this drug is effective for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, including cystitis. It is helpful for treating infections when the susceptibility patterns of the causative organisms are confirmed.

Precautions

This drug is a cephalosporin antibiotic and should not be administered to patients with a history of allergy to cephalosporins. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin or other drugs should use this drug cautiously. Approximately 10% of individuals with penicillin allergies may also show allergic reactions to this drug. Severely ill patients or those with impaired kidney function must verify renal status before administration and should reduce the dose if necessary. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, especially colitis, should also use caution. When taking this drug, gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur. Reports of liver dysfunction or hypersensitive responses such as rash and urticaria have also been noted. Symptoms affecting the central nervous system such as dizziness, headaches, and drowsiness may rarely occur, as well as kidney dysfunction or hematologic issues. Long-term use of this drug may lead to resistance or excessive growth of other bacteria, so it is advisable to use it for the minimum duration necessary for treatment. If allergic symptoms occur, immediately discontinue the drug and seek necessary emergency measures. If diarrhea occurs after antibiotic use, consider the possibility of pseudomembranous colitis and receive appropriate treatment. Caution is needed when used concurrently with other cephalosporins or diuretics as it may increase renal toxicity. It should only be used during pregnancy when absolutely necessary, and nursing mothers should consider the potential effects on the infant before use. It is not recommended for infants under 6 months of age as safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may have reduced kidney function and may require dose adjustments. This drug is excreted through the kidneys; therefore, if overdosed, it can be removed through hemodialysis. Since it may influence clinical test results, be sure to inform healthcare professionals about this point during testing.
