Relief of symptoms such as allergic rhinitis, chronic urticaria, etc.
This medication alleviates the symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria, and is also used to relieve symptoms of dermatitis and eczema accompanied by itching.
Adults and children over 6 years: Take 1 tablet (5 mg levocetirizine hydrochloride) once a day, regardless of meals. Dosing should be adjusted based on renal function (eGFR). - Normal renal function (≥ 90 mL/min): 1 tablet once a day - Mild renal impairment (60 -< 90 mL/min): 1 tablet once a day - Moderate renal impairment (30 -< 60 mL/min): 1 tablet twice a week
Children over 6 years of age take 1 tablet (5 mg levocetirizine hydrochloride) once a day, regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to specific ingredients or have hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. It is safe not to administer to patients with end-stage renal disease or those undergoing dialysis. This medication should not be used in infants under 1 year old, and should be given in liquid form to children under 6 years old instead of in tablet form. The tablets contain lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic disorders should avoid taking it. Patients with decreased kidney or liver function, and the elderly should use with caution as the blood concentration of this medication may increase. Taking this medication may produce neurological side effects such as drowsiness, headaches, and dizziness, thus caution is needed while driving or operating machinery. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dry mouth, nausea, and abdominal pain may occur, and rare reports of arrhythmias or blood-related adverse reactions have also been noted. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes or swelling, and rarely anaphylactic shock may occur, and immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is advised if symptoms arise. This medication may affect the central nervous system, so it is best to avoid taking it with alcohol or other CNS depressants. Patients with epilepsy or at risk of seizures should be cautious as symptoms may worsen after taking this medication. Women who are pregnant should use this medication with caution, and lactating women should be careful as adverse reactions may appear in the baby. This medication is primarily excreted via the kidneys, so elderly patients with decreased kidney function should start with a low dose and adjust based on their condition. It is necessary to stop taking this medication prior to allergy testing for accurate test results. In cases of overdose, drowsiness or agitation may occur, and there is no specific antidote, so treatment should be symptomatic. This medication is not removed by dialysis, so follow the instructions of healthcare providers in cases of overdose.
