In particular, elderly patients or those with a history of peptic ulcers should be monitored regularly. This medication has many drug interactions, and dosing adjustments or drug holidays may be necessary for other medications being taken concurrently, so patients should inform about any medications they are taking. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits of using this medication, and breastfeeding women are advised to discontinue breastfeeding. The safety for children has not been established, so it should only be used when absolutely necessary, and elderly patients may require dose adjustments due to diminished renal function which may increase drug concentration.
