Child administration
For newborns (within 14 days of birth), administer 20-50 mg (activity) per kg of body weight once daily, not exceeding 50 mg (activity) per kg of body weight. For infants and children (15 days to 12 years), dosage is based on body weight.
Precautions
This drug must not be used in conjunction with solutions or drugs containing calcium. In particular, if this drug is mixed with calcium in neonates, it may precipitate and cause serious side effects; therefore, it must not be administered. Patients with allergies to this drug or who have had hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins or penicillin antibiotics should not use it. This drug may be risky for neonates or premature infants with bilirubin binding problems and should not be administered. Caution is advised for individuals with a history of drug allergies or those who may easily exhibit allergic symptoms such as bronchial asthma or rashes. In patients with poor kidney function, elderly patients, or those in poor general health, dosage adjustment or increased intervals may be necessary. This drug may cause side effects such as diarrhea, rash, liver dysfunction, and blood cell reduction, so if any unusual symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a physician is required. Rarely, serious allergic reactions, neurological disorders, hepatitis, or kidney impairment may occur, so the patient's condition should be monitored closely during administration. This drug can interact with other medications, so caution is needed, especially when used with diuretics, aminoglycoside antibiotics, and vitamin K antagonists. For pregnant or breastfeeding women, the safety of this drug has not been fully established; it should only be used when necessary and under a physician's discretion. In principle, it should not be administered to newborns or premature infants due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Caution should be exercised as side effects such as dizziness may occur during driving or operating machinery. When administering this drug, observe the injection site, and it is advisable to administer the intravenous injection slowly. The prepared solution should be used as soon as possible, and it should not be mixed with or administered simultaneously with calcium-containing solutions. While using this drug, it is important to regularly check liver, kidney, and blood parameters to verify any unusual conditions.
