Precautions

This medication should not be mixed or administered concurrently with solutions or drugs containing calcium. This is particularly critical for newborns, as co-administration with calcium can form serious precipitates and lead to life-threatening side effects. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to ceftriaxone or allergies to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics. Caution is also required for those allergic to the local anesthetic lidocaine. It may be dangerous for premature infants and newborns with issues related to bilirubin binding. Patients with a history of allergic reactions or asthma symptoms, severe renal impairment, elderly patients, and those in poor general health should exercise special caution when administering this drug, and dose adjustments or additional tests may be necessary. This medication can cause various side effects such as decreased blood cell count, diarrhea, rash, and elevated liver enzymes, so if there are any abnormal symptoms during administration, consult medical personnel immediately. Additionally, severe allergic reactions or shock symptoms may occur, thus patients should be monitored closely after administration. This drug can impact kidney function, necessitating regular liver and kidney function tests, and some patients may form precipitates in the gallbladder, so careful observation for symptoms is required. Consider potential drug interactions when administering this drug, especially when used with diuretics, aminoglycoside antibiotics, and vitamin K antagonists. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should exercise caution when administering this medication, and it should not be used in neonates or premature infants due to the risk of bilirubin encephalopathy. Lastly, this medication can cause side effects like dizziness that may affect driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. Finally, this drug should be used as soon as possible after preparation, and proper temperature conditions should be maintained during storage.
