Improvement of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, etc.)
This medication is used in the treatment of ulcers occurring in the stomach and duodenum, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It also improves symptoms such as erosion, bleeding, redness, and swelling of the gastric mucosa that appear during acute exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis. This medication helps to promote the health of the gastric mucosa and alleviate uncomfortable symptoms.
As cimetidine, administer 400 mg orally twice a day (morning and bedtime) or 800 mg once a day (at bedtime). Additionally, administer 300 mg orally four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). The dose can be increased up to 1.6 g, 400 mg orally four times a day (after meals and bedtime). For acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis, administer 200 mg twice a day or 400 mg once a day.
Administer 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight per day divided orally.
This medication contains the ingredient cimetidine and should not be administered to certain patients. For example, patients who are allergic to cimetidine or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or its other ingredients should not use it. Furthermore, patients who are taking a drug called dofetilide may have an increased risk of cardiac arrhythmias, so this medication should not be administered. This medication contains lactose and should not be used by patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders. Caution is needed when using this medication in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, those with a history of drug allergies, elderly patients, children under 19 years of age, and patients undergoing hemodialysis. This medication may mask symptoms of gastric cancer, so it should be administered only after confirming malignancy, and patients with Helicobacter pylori infection should receive eradication therapy concurrently. Additionally, patients allergic to the dye Yellow No. 4 (tartrazine) included in this medication should exercise caution. While taking this medication, rare side effects such as decreased blood cell counts, liver dysfunction, renal problems, hypersensitivity reactions, hormonal imbalance, gastrointestinal symptoms, neurological symptoms, cardiac arrhythmias, and skin reactions may occur, so patients should consult a physician immediately if symptoms arise. It is especially important to undergo regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests to monitor the condition, and if symptoms are severe, the medication should be discontinued, and appropriate treatment obtained. This medication has many drug interactions; therefore, dose adjustment or drug holidays may be necessary when taken with anticoagulants like warfarin, antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers, diabetes medications, and antifungals. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consider the necessity and risks of using this medication, as its safety has not been fully established. It is best to avoid breastfeeding while taking this medication. The safety of this medication in children has not been sufficiently proven, and it should only be used when absolutely necessary, while elderly patients should adjust the dose and intervals due to possible renal function decline. In cases of overdose, severe symptoms such as respiratory depression may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment at a hospital. Finally, this medication should be kept out of reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to other containers, as this may adversely affect the quality and safety of the medication.
