Precautions

This medication works by binding to specific proteins and interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby killing bacteria. This medication should not be used in patients who have previously experienced shock due to this medication or have had allergic reactions to this medication or cephalosporin antibiotics. Additionally, as it contains lactose, patients with lactose intolerance or genetic lactose metabolism disorders should not take this medication. Patients with a history of allergy to penicillin or atopy, severe renal impairment, difficulty in oral intake, the elderly, or those in poor general condition need caution while using this medication, and may show symptoms of vitamin K deficiency, hence close monitoring is necessary. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially those who have had colitis, should also be administered with caution. This medication may rarely cause shock or severe allergic reactions, so abnormal symptoms should be closely monitored during administration, and if serious rashes or ulcers occur on the skin, administration should be stopped immediately. Blood cell counts may show abnormalities, so regular blood tests are necessary to monitor the condition, as it can also affect liver or kidney functions. Gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur, and sometimes severe colitis may develop, so immediate consultation with a physician is required if symptoms appear. Respiratory and central nervous system symptoms may also rarely occur, so they should be reported immediately if they occur. This medication may cause dysbiosis such as stomatitis or candidiasis, and symptoms of vitamin K or vitamin B deficiency may also rarely occur. It is important to perform susceptibility testing to prevent the emergence of resistant strains and to administer for only the necessary duration. Interactions with other medications should be noted, especially when used with medications affecting the kidneys, anticoagulants, or oral contraceptives, and should be used according to a physician's directives. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication cautiously, as its safety has not been fully established. Safety in neonates under one month has not been established. The elderly may show abnormal reactions easily due to decreased physiological functions and are at risk of bleeding; therefore, dosage and intervals should be adjusted, and they should be monitored closely. This medication may affect some clinical test results, so it is advisable to inform the healthcare professional when undergoing tests.
