Treatment of dermatophyte infections (such as athlete's foot, tinea corporis, etc.) and onychomycosis
This medication is used to treat dermatophyte infections in adults, such as athlete's foot, tinea corporis, and tinea capitis, as well as onychomycosis. It is also effective for treating tinea capitis in children. In simple terms, it helps to improve various fungal infections of the skin and nails.
As terbinafine: 125 mg once, twice daily, or 250 mg once daily. Treatment duration may vary based on the condition: 1) Dermatophytosis - Athlete's foot (interdigital, plantar/moccasin-type): 2 to 6 weeks - Tinea corporis: 2 to 4 weeks - Tinea cruris (jock itch): 2 to 4 weeks 2) Onychomycosis - Typically treated for 6 weeks to 3 months. Infections of the fingernails or relatively small toes may require shorter treatment durations, while fingernail treatment duration is generally sufficient at 3 months, although some patients might need treatment for 6 months or more depending on their nail growth rate.
Administer to children over 2 years of age. Tinea capitis: 4 weeks 1) Under 20 kg (under 5 years): 62.5 mg once daily. Due to limited experience, the benefits and risks of treatment should be carefully considered.
