Precautions

This drug is a beta-lactam antibiotic and should not be used in patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins or cephalosporins. Caution is required in patients with viral infectious diseases such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia due to the increased risk of rash. Patients with a history of liver dysfunction or jaundice should use this medication carefully as liver function may worsen during treatment. Patients with liver impairment or moderate to severe renal impairment may have increased concentration of this drug, thus the dosing interval should be adjusted or closely monitored. Patients with allergic tendencies or symptoms such as bronchial asthma and urticaria should be cautious as there may be a possibility of allergic reactions during treatment. Patients with gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea may experience reduced drug absorption leading to decreased therapeutic effects. This medication may cause gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting, and in rare cases, serious symptoms like pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis may occur, so immediate consultation with a physician is required upon experiencing abnormal symptoms. Liver function impairment may occur, thus regular liver function tests are important, particularly in the elderly or during prolonged use. Severe skin reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, and in severe cases, Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, thus if any skin irregularities occur, the medication must be immediately discontinued and medical consultation sought. Blood tests may rarely show leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and other blood system abnormalities, so blood tests should be conducted to monitor status during long-term use. Central nervous system adverse effects such as agitation, anxiety, drowsiness, and rarely seizures may occur, thus careful observation is needed upon experiencing abnormal symptoms. This drug is excreted through the kidneys, hence patients with renal impairment should have their dosages adjusted, and regular kidney function tests are necessary as acute renal failure or other renal abnormalities may occur. Like other antibiotics, this drug may alter intestinal flora leading to dysbiosis such as stomatitis or candidiasis, thus appropriate measures should be taken upon symptom occurrence. There may be a tendency for bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, thus in patients at risk of bleeding or during prolonged use, periodic checks of blood coagulation status are required. It is advised to avoid use during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, and caution is required during breastfeeding as diarrhea or allergic reactions may occur in infants. Elderly patients are at higher risk of side effects due to decreased physical function, thus careful adjustment of dosage and administration intervals is necessary. During the use of this medication, there may be potential interactions with other drugs, thus consultation with healthcare professionals is necessary, especially when taking anticoagulants, anti-inflammatory drugs, and oral contraceptives. In case of overdose, gastrointestinal symptoms, central nervous system abnormalities, and allergic reactions may occur, thus immediate discontinuation and appropriate treatment are required. Prior to use, the medication should be shaken well, stored in the refrigerator after preparation, and safely used within 7 days.
