It is particularly effective as an adjunctive treatment when combined with diuretics, digitalis preparations, ACE inhibitors, and other vasodilators. Additionally, it helps in controlling heart rate in patients with atrial fibrillation. It is used to improve symptoms of various heart-related conditions.

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to those with allergies to this medication or its components, those with severely impaired cardiac function, those with bradycardia, those with heart conduction disorders, those with severe right heart failure due to pulmonary hypertension, those with metabolic abnormalities due to diabetes, those with severe heart failure, those with respiratory diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, certain types of hypertension patients, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Furthermore, diabetic patients, those with severe allergic reactions, patients with low blood pressure, those with impaired kidney or liver function, elderly patients, and patients with certain heart conditions need to be especially cautious when using this medication and require strict monitoring and adjustment by a physician. During treatment, central nervous system symptoms such as dizziness, headaches, and fatigue may occur, and heart rate may slow down or blood pressure may drop, necessitating regular checks of heart function and blood pressure. In severe cases, it may be necessary to reduce or stop the medication. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function should be cautious as deterioration of function may occur, and those with respiratory diseases should be monitored for worsening symptoms. This medication can affect blood sugar control, so diabetic patients should frequently check their blood sugar, and patients with hyperthyroidism should be cautious as symptoms may be masked. This medication may interact with other medications, so consultation with a doctor is necessary when taken with other antihypertensives, sedatives, antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, or antidiabetic agents. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication, and safety in children and adolescents has not been established, so its use is not recommended. In elderly patients, drug concentration may increase due to decreased liver function, so treatment should start at a lower dose and be closely monitored. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms such as low blood pressure, reduced heart rate, decreased cardiac function, and respiratory distress may occur, necessitating immediate notification of medical personnel and appropriate treatment. Patients on long-term treatment should regularly check heart function, blood pressure, liver, and kidney functions, and abrupt cessation of the medication can exacerbate cardiac symptoms, so the dosage should be gradually reduced according to a doctor's instructions. Symptom issues such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur, requiring caution while driving or operating hazardous machinery; dryness of the eyes may cause discomfort for contact lens wearers. This medication may discolor when exposed to light, so keep it in a light-blocking container and store it out of reach of children; it is advisable not to transfer the medication to another container.
