Pain (severe pain, labor pain, and myocardial infarction); adjunct to anesthesia; relief of cardiovascular symptoms and anxiety associated with acute pulmonary edema
This medication helps relieve relatively severe acute or chronic pain, such as in terminal illnesses. It is also used as an adjunct in anesthesia to induce sedation prior to surgery. During childbirth, it alleviates the mother's pain and provides cardiovascular effects to patients with acute pulmonary edema while relieving anxiety. However, it is not used for treating pulmonary edema triggered by chemical respiratory irritants. It effectively alleviates pain caused by myocardial infarction, reducing patient discomfort. Therefore, it is used to treat a variety of pain and anxiety symptoms.
For patients with severe chronic pain, adjust the dose according to the degree of pain, response, and tolerance. The dose may be increased in patients with very severe chronic pain or in patients who are tolerant to the analgesic effects of opioids. Reduce the dose in older adults and patients receiving other central nervous system depressants. 1. Adults 1) Dose for subcutaneous or intramuscular injection: Generally, administer 10 mg of morphine sulfate hydrate every 4 hours as needed. A single dose may range from 5∼20 mg, depending on the patient's response and needs. 2) Dose for intravenous injection: Generally, administer 4∼10 mg of this medicine slowly over 4∼5 minutes, and repeat every 4 hours as needed. 2.5∼15 mg of this medicine may be diluted in 4∼5 mL of water for injection. 3. Pain relief during labor: Generally, administer 10 mg of this medicine by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. 4. Pain relief due to myocardial infarction: Inject 8∼15 mg of this medicine. If the pain is very severe, a small additional dose may be administered every 3∼4 hours.
Reduce the dose in children. 2. Children Inject 0.1∼0.2 mg/kg of this medicine subcutaneously as needed. Do not exceed 15 mg per dose. Do not administer to premature infants. The safety and efficacy in neonates have not been established.
This medication is an opioid analgesic that acts on the central nervous system to relieve pain. Caution must be exercised when taking this medication with other central nervous system depressants or alcohol, as it can lead to severe drowsiness, respiratory distress, coma, or even death. It should not be used in patients with allergies to this medication, specific heart, lung, or brain conditions, or in patients with seizure disorders. Patients with low blood pressure, severe respiratory issues, or asthma, as well as those with a history of drug dependence or alcohol addiction, should use this medication with great care. Long-term use of this medication may lead to physical dependence, and sudden discontinuation can cause withdrawal symptoms, so dosage should be reduced gradually. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur during treatment, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their physician before using this medication, as it may affect the fetus or newborn. For children and the elderly, dosage adjustments are necessary, and their conditions should be monitored carefully. Caution is needed as metabolic and excretion processes are delayed in patients with impaired liver and kidney function, which may increase the severity of side effects. In case of overdose, severe respiratory depression, loss of consciousness, or hypotension may occur, necessitating immediate emergency treatment. Before administration, the color change or precipitation of the solution must be checked, and if abnormalities are found, do not use it. This medication must be strictly managed, and any remaining medication should be disposed of safely. There may be many drug interactions while taking this medication; therefore, inform your healthcare provider of any other medications you are taking.
