This medication is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also utilized as an adjunctive treatment for partial seizures in patients with epilepsy. Furthermore, it helps alleviate symptoms of fibromyalgia. This drug is effective for various neural and pain-related conditions and plays an important role in improving the quality of life of patients.
This medication is administered orally, divided into two doses per day, without regard to meals. 1. Neuropathic Pain 1) Peripheral Neuropathic Pain The starting dose is 150 mg per day, which may be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days, and if needed, may be further increased to a maximum of 600 mg per day at 7-day intervals. 2) Central Neuropathic Pain The starting dose is 150 mg per day, and may be increased to 300 mg per day after one week.
Safety and efficacy data for children under 12 years old and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years is insufficient; therefore, the use of this medication is not recommended.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior, so if symptoms of depression or mood changes occur during treatment, notify healthcare professionals immediately. Patients with hypersensitivity to this medication or certain genetic conditions like lactose intolerance should not use it. Diabetic patients may need to adjust the dose of blood glucose-regulating medication due to weight gain after taking this medication. If symptoms of angioedema appear, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional. Elderly patients should take care due to the risk of falls from dizziness or drowsiness. During treatment, blurred vision or changes in vision may occur; if symptoms arise, inform healthcare professionals. Sudden discontinuation of this medication may result in withdrawal symptoms, so it should be gradually tapered off according to healthcare professional guidance. Patients with a history of substance abuse may be at higher risk for misuse of this medication, and careful monitoring is needed. Patients with impaired renal function may require dose adjustments. Patients with heart disease should use caution while taking this medication. Using this medication with opioid analgesics increases the risk of central nervous system depression, so caution is warranted. Patients with weakened respiratory function or the elderly may be at risk for severe respiratory depression, requiring dose adjustments and monitoring. In early pregnancy, there might be a risk of fetal malformation, so pregnant women are advised not to take this medication, and women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception. Breastfeeding women should cease breastfeeding or consult with a healthcare professional since this medication is excreted in breast milk. Be cautious of dizziness and drowsiness when driving or operating machinery. In case of overdose, confusion, drowsiness, seizures, etc. may occur, so immediate medical attention is required. Keep out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers for safety.
Hives, severe swelling (angioedema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, pallor, severe rash with fever, blisters, peeling skin, mucosal pain in the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, urinary issues

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to protect it from air and moisture. It is best stored at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C, avoiding extremes of heat or cold.
