Treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain, as an adjunctive therapy for partial seizures, improvement of fibromyalgia.
This medication is used to treat peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also used as an adjunct treatment for partial seizures in epilepsy patients with or without secondary generalization. Additionally, it is effective in alleviating the symptoms of fibromyalgia. In summary, this medication is used for neuropathic pain, partial seizures, and fibromyalgia.
This medication should be administered orally as Pregabalin, divided into two doses per day regardless of meals. 1. Neuropathic pain - Peripheral neuropathic pain: An initial dose of 150 mg per day may be administered, and can be increased to 300 mg per day after 3 to 7 days, if necessary, further increments can be made to a maximum of 600 mg per day at 7-day intervals. - Central neuropathic pain: Initial dose of 150 mg per day.
The safety and efficacy data are insufficient for children under 12 years of age and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, thus administration is not recommended.
This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, and any changes in mood or unusual behavior should be reported to a doctor immediately while taking it. Individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication or certain genetic disorders, such as lactose intolerance, should not take it. Diabetic patients should discuss dosage adjustments with their doctor due to potential weight gain affecting blood sugar control. If symptoms of angioedema appear, the medication should be stopped immediately and healthcare personnel should be notified. Elderly individuals should be cautious due to the risk of falls from dizziness or drowsiness, especially during the initial stages of treatment. Transient blurring of vision or changes in eyesight may occur, so consult a physician if unusual symptoms arise. Abrupt discontinuation of this medication can cause withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, and anxiety, so it should be tapered off gradually under medical guidance. Patients with a history of substance abuse may require special attention due to the potential for misuse or dependence on this medication. Patients with impaired kidney function should have their dosage adjusted, and patients with heart failure should also use this medication cautiously. When combined with opioid analgesics, there is an increased risk of central nervous system depression, thus caution is needed. Patients with compromised respiratory function or elderly patients have a risk of severe respiratory depression and should take this medication under the direction of healthcare personnel. During early pregnancy, there is a risk of fetal malformations, so women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should consult a physician and use effective contraception. For breastfeeding women, this medication may be passed into breast milk, hence they should discuss with their physician whether to discontinue breastfeeding or the medication. Tasks requiring concentration, such as driving or operating machinery, should be avoided until dizziness or drowsiness completely resolves. If serious allergic reactions such as skin rashes, fever, or difficulty in breathing occur while taking this medication, treatment should be stopped immediately and the hospital should be visited. In case of overdose, confusion, drowsiness, and depression may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, peeling skin, pain in oral/eye mucous membranes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthmatic attacks, respiratory issues with coughing and fever, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and very severe headaches, lightning headaches, seizures, confusion of consciousness, visual disturbances, paralysis, urination.

This medication may be sensitive to air or moisture, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. The storage temperature should be maintained between 15 degrees and 30 degrees Celsius.
