This medicine is used for the treatment of peripheral and central neuropathic pain in adults. It is also prescribed as an adjunct for partial seizures in epilepsy patients with or without secondary generalized symptoms. Finally, it is effective in the treatment of fibromyalgia. It helps to alleviate symptoms of these conditions and improve quality of life.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is administered orally without regard to meals, with a total daily dose divided into two doses per day. 1. Precautions

This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors; therefore, if there are any changes in mood or behavior during treatment, consult a doctor immediately. Those with hypersensitivity to this drug should not take it, and diabetic patients may need to adjust the dosage of blood glucose control medications due to weight gain. If symptoms of angioedema occur, such as swelling of the face or neck due to allergic reactions, it should be stopped immediately. Elderly patients are at risk of falls due to dizziness or drowsiness, so special caution should be exercised at the beginning of treatment. Some patients may experience blurred vision or changes in vision, which may improve upon discontinuation of the medication. If this medication is suddenly discontinued, withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, headache, anxiety, and depression may appear; therefore, it should be gradually tapered under a doctor's supervision. Due to the risk of drug abuse, those with a history of substance abuse or mental disorders should inform their doctor beforehand. Patients with impaired kidney function may require dosage adjustments. Patients with severe heart diseases should use this drug with caution, as concomitant use with opioid analgesics may enhance central nervous system depression. Those with respiratory or neurological conditions, or the elderly, may be at a higher risk of severe respiratory depression and may require dosage adjustments. In early pregnancy, there is a risk of fetal malformations, so use during pregnancy should be avoided, and women of childbearing age should use effective contraceptive methods. Breastfeeding women should discontinue nursing while taking this medication, as it can be passed into breast milk and affect the baby. When engaging in risky activities such as driving or operating machinery, caution should be taken due to the risk of accidents caused by dizziness and drowsiness. If severe rashes or blisters appear on the skin while taking this medication, it should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. In case of overdose, symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness, depression, and seizures may occur; treatment such as hemodialysis may be necessary.
