This medication helps prevent and continuously treat asthma. It is also used to alleviate symptoms of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis. Therefore, it is effective in improving respiratory diseases and allergy symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

This medication is taken once daily, and asthmatic patients should take it in the evening. For allergic rhinitis patients, the dosing time is determined according to the patient's condition. Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take 1 tablet in the evening, once daily. This medication is administered one hour before meals or two hours after meals.

Child dose

Children aged 2 to 5 years should chew and take 4 mg of montelukast once daily. This medication is administered one hour before meals or two hours after meals.

Precautions

This medication is used to treat respiratory disorders such as asthma or allergic rhinitis. During the use of this medication, there may be abnormalities in the neuropsychiatric system, so if symptoms such as agitation, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, or suicidal thoughts occur, consult a doctor immediately. This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, so patients with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria should avoid taking it. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this medication should not use it, and side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, rash, cough, and nasal congestion.
