View approved original text

This medication is used to control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension. Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms in heart failure patients who are intolerant to ACE inhibitors, particularly those classified as NYHA Class II to IV. It is also effective in reducing the risk of death in patients with left ventricular dysfunction or heart failure after myocardial infarction. Thus, this drug is effective for hypertension as well as in the management of specific heart failure conditions and post-myocardial infarction.

Precautions

This medication should be avoided during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn. If pregnancy is confirmed, treatment should be discontinued immediately. It is contraindicated in patients with an allergic reaction to this drug, severe liver disease, or significant renal dysfunction, as well as in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Elderly patients or those with hyperkalemia, impaired liver function, or heart and kidney problems should exercise caution while taking this medication, and it is advisable to start with a low dose and gradually increase it. Blood pressure may drop rapidly while taking this medication, and if dizziness or fainting occurs, consultation with healthcare professionals should be sought immediately. Patients undergoing dialysis or those on diuretics, or on strict salt restriction should be monitored carefully when starting this medication. Concomitant use with other antihypertensives, diuretics, or potassium-sparing diuretics may elevate serum potassium levels to dangerous levels, necessitating regular blood tests. Caution is advised, especially when used with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), as this may reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect or worsen renal function. This medication can cause dizziness when driving or operating machinery, so caution is needed. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension, decreased consciousness, and shock may occur, requiring immediate emergency treatment. Safety in children and adolescents has not been established, so use is discouraged. This medication should be kept out of the reach of children, and care should be taken not to transfer it to other containers to avoid compromising quality or causing accidents.
