This medication may increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults with major depressive disorder or other psychiatric illnesses. Therefore, clinicians should carefully consider the clinical necessity and risks when prescribing this medication. Patients of all ages taking this medication should be closely monitored for suicidal tendencies or behavioral changes, and family members or guardians should closely observe the patient and inform medical personnel immediately if any abnormalities are observed. This medication can cause a serious side effect called neuroleptic malignant syndrome, so if symptoms such as high fever, muscle rigidity, or changes in mental status occur, immediate medical treatment is necessary. Because tardive dyskinesia, an irreversible abnormal movement disorder, may occur, it is advised to administer the minimum dose for the shortest duration possible during long-term use, and to consult medical personnel if symptoms arise. Using this medication in elderly patients with dementia may increase the risk of stroke or death, so it should not be administered to dementia patients. This medication can increase blood glucose levels, so diabetic patients should regularly check their blood glucose control status, and patients with risk factors for diabetes should be observed with caution. There is a risk of venous thromboembolism, so it is essential to assess thrombotic risk factors and take preventive measures before taking this medication. This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity or specific genetic lactose intolerance. Patients with orthostatic hypotension, a history of seizures, cognitive impairment, temperature regulation disorders, dysphagia, and high risk of suicide should be administered this medication with caution, and careful monitoring is needed during treatment. This medication can commonly cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, anxiety, headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, weight gain, muscle rigidity, tremors, sedation, extrapyramidal symptoms, akathisia, and others. Patients are advised to consult medical personnel if any unusual symptoms occur. Particularly in children and adolescents, the incidence of drowsiness and extrapyramidal symptoms is higher, so caution is necessary during administration. This medication requires caution when driving or operating dangerous machinery, and the dose should be started at the minimum and adjusted based on the patient's condition. Adverse reactions reported during clinical trials and post-marketing investigations include blood abnormalities, heart irregularities, allergic reactions, weight changes, suicidal thoughts, aggression, anxiety, and insomnia, so patients should inform medical personnel immediately if any unusual symptoms occur.
