How it is given
Adult administration
For those aged 9 years and older, 0.5 mL is administered as a single intramuscular injection. It is administered once annually.
Child administration
For ages 6 to 35 months, 0.25 mL is administered as a single intramuscular injection. For ages 3 to 8 years, 0.5 mL is administered as a single intramuscular injection. For those under 9 years old who have not been infected with influenza or do not have a vaccination history, a spacing of four weeks is recommended for the first year of vaccination.
Precautions
This medication must be thoroughly evaluated for health status prior to vaccination. Particularly, those with fever, serious nutritional disorders, acute exacerbation of heart, kidney, or liver disease, or acute respiratory disease or infections should avoid vaccination. Additionally, individuals who are allergic to any components of this vaccine or have previously experienced severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis should not be vaccinated. Caution is also required for anyone who experienced seizure symptoms within the last year or had neurological abnormalities following an influenza vaccination. Patients with chronic heart and respiratory diseases or diabetes should carefully consider vaccination, as symptoms may worsen upon influenza infection. After administration, local reactions such as redness, swelling, and pain at the injection site may occur, and systemic symptoms such as headache, fever, malaise, and nausea may occasionally develop. Very rarely, there may be severe adverse effects including encephalitis, seizures, or severe allergic reactions, and in such cases, immediate medical attention is required. Pregnant women can be vaccinated at any stage of pregnancy, and it is also safe for lactating women. This medication should not be frozen and should be stored refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C, and should be well shaken and mixed before use. After vaccination, it is advisable to keep the injection site clean and rest for that day and the following day. When used with other medications, there may be potential interactions, so consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary, especially for those receiving immunosuppressive treatment, as immune responses may be weakened.
