Relief of symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria
This medication relieves the symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis and also improves the symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria. Additionally, it helps alleviate symptoms in patients with eczema and dermatitis accompanied by itching, especially in adults and children over 6 years of age, when used in conjunction with topical hydrocortisone. It is effectively used for the relief of various allergy and skin-related symptoms.
Adults and children over 6 years old: 5mg (10mL as a liquid) of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride once daily, regardless of meals. For adult patients with renal impairment, the dosage must be adjusted according to renal function (Creatinine Clearance (CLCR)). - Mild (50 ≤ CLCR < 80): 5mg once daily - Moderate (30 ≤ CLCR < 50): 5mg once, twice daily - Severe (10 ≤ CLCR < 30): 5mg once, three times daily.
Children aged 2 years and older but under 6 years: 1.25mg (2.5mL as a liquid) once, twice daily. Children aged 1 year or older but under 2 years: 1.25mg (2.5mL as a liquid) once daily.
This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to certain ingredients. It should particularly not be administered to patients with severely impaired renal function or those undergoing hemodialysis. It is also safe for women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, or who are breastfeeding, to avoid using this medication. Do not use in infants under 1 year of age, and for children under 6 years, it should be administered in liquid form rather than tablets. The liquid formulation contains certain sweeteners that may pose a risk for patients without fructose intolerance. Patients with kidney or liver issues, as well as elderly individuals, need to take caution as the blood drug concentration may increase. Possible neurological side effects such as drowsiness, headache, and dizziness may occur upon taking this medication. Gastrointestinal side effects like nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may also arise. Various adverse reactions such as abnormal heart rhythms, changes in blood pressure, changes in blood cell counts, and allergic reactions have been reported. For children, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and otitis media can commonly occur. After taking this medication, drowsiness or fatigue may occur, so caution is advised while driving or operating machinery. Caution should be taken when consuming alcohol or central nervous system depressants as the symptoms may worsen. Patients at risk for urinary retention should be careful when using this medication. The liquid formulation contains preservatives and sweeteners, which may cause allergic reactions. It is advisable not to take this medication alongside other antihistamines or alcohol, and caution should be taken due to possible drug interactions with some medications. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should avoid using this medication. For children under 12 years, dosage adjustments are necessary, and it should not be used in infants under 1 year of age. Elderly individuals may have reduced kidney function, so it's best to start with a lower dose and monitor their condition. It is advisable to temporarily discontinue this medication before allergy testing. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness or agitation may appear, and since there is no specific antidote, symptom-specific treatment is required. This medication is not effectively removed through hemodialysis, so caution should be exercised in case of overdose.

This medication is sensitive to light, so it should be stored in a container that blocks light. Additionally, it should be stored between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius at room temperature, avoiding excessively hot or cold storage conditions.
