Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (seasonal and perennial), chronic urticaria, etc.
This medication is used to relieve symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis. It also alleviates symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria and helps relieve symptoms when used with a hydrocortisone topical agent for dermatitis and eczema accompanied by itching. It is effective for relief of various allergy-related symptoms.
Adults: 1 tablet (5 mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) taken orally once daily, irrespective of meals. In patients with renal impairment, the dose should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance (CLCR). - Mild (50 ≤ CLCR < 80): 1 tablet once a day - Moderate (30 ≤ CLCR < 50): 1 tablet every other day - Severe (10 ≤ CLCR < 30): 1 tablet every three days
Children 6 years and older: 1 tablet (5 mg of Levocetirizine Hydrochloride) taken orally once daily, irrespective of meals. Dose may be adjusted according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in patients with allergies to specific components or those with a history of hypersensitivity to hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives. This medication should not be administered to patients with severely impaired renal function or those undergoing dialysis. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and breastfeeding women should not take this medication. This medication should never be used in infants under 1 year old, and it is safer to administer it in liquid form rather than tablets to children under 6 years old. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance or genetic lactose enzyme deficiency should not take it. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function and elderly persons should take this medication with caution as blood concentration may increase. When taking this medication, drowsiness, fatigue, and lethargy may occur, so extra caution is required when performing tasks that need concentration, such as driving or operating machinery. Combining this medication with alcohol or antidepressants can exacerbate drowsiness and decrease concentration, so it is advisable to avoid such combinations. Patients with urinary elimination issues, such as those with spinal injuries or prostate enlargement, need to be particularly careful when taking this medication. This medication can cause various side effects, including drowsiness, headache, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, skin rash, and blood abnormalities. Especially in children, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and otitis media may frequently occur as side effects. Pregnant or lactating women should not take this medication, as sufficient safety studies have not been conducted. Since this medication is excreted through the kidneys, elderly patients with impaired kidney function should start with a low dose and monitor their condition. Taking this medication prior to allergy tests may affect test results, so it is recommended to discontinue use 3 to 5 days before testing. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness or agitation may occur, and there are no specific antidotes, so treatment based on symptoms should be pursued. This medication is not eliminated by dialysis, so caution is necessary in case of overdose.

This medication must be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture. The storage temperature should be maintained between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius.
