Treatment and prevention of cutaneous and nail fungal infections, mucosal and corneal fungal infections, and systemic and deep fungal infections
This medication is used to treat various fungal infections. In tablet or capsule form, it is effective for skin and mucosal fungal infections such as candidal vaginitis, tinea versicolor, tinea corporis caused by dermatophytes, oral candidiasis, fungal keratitis, and onychomycosis, as well as systemic fungal infections like aspergillosis, candidiasis, cryptococcosis, and paracoccidioidomycosis. The liquid formulation is mainly used for treating oral and esophageal candidiasis in HIV-infected patients or immunocompromised individuals, and it is also utilized for the prevention of systemic fungal infections in patients with hematologic tumors or those undergoing bone marrow transplantation. Thus, this medication is effectively used for treating and preventing various fungal infections from skin to internal systemic infections.
