Improvement of fluid and nutrition through parenteral nutrition
This medication provides necessary fluids, electrolytes, amino acids, and calories to patients who have difficulty or insufficient nutritional intake via oral or gastrointestinal routes. It helps improve the nutritional status of patients and maintain body balance. It is mainly used when parenteral nutrition is required, playing an important role in the recovery and health maintenance of patients. This nutritional supply is effective in preventing nutritional deficiencies during treatment and supporting bodily functions. Therefore, it is an essential therapy for patients where appropriate nutrition intake is challenging.
For adults, the dosage and infusion rate should be determined according to the capacity to metabolize fats and glucose, with the dosage and bag size decided based on the patient's condition, weight, and nutritional needs. - For patients with normal nutritional status or mild metabolic stress: as amino acids, 0.7 to 1.0 g/kg (0.10 to 0.15 g nitrogen/kg) per day. - For patients under intermediate to high metabolic stress: as amino acids, 1.0 to 2.0 g/kg (0.15 to 0.30 g nitrogen/kg) per day via drip infusion.

The safety of this medication in pregnant or breastfeeding women has not been established, and it should only be used when the therapeutic benefits outweigh the risks. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily function, so infusion rates should be slower, and dosages adjusted as needed. Overdosage may cause symptoms like nausea, vomiting, fluid overload, electrolyte imbalance, requiring cessation of administration or slowing down the rate, and blood dialysis may be necessary if needed.
