Adult dosage
Adults: For cimetidine, take 400 mg orally twice a day (in the morning and at bedtime) or 800 mg once a day (at bedtime). Additionally, take 300 mg orally four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). The dose may be increased up to 1.6 g, administering 400 mg four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). For improvement of gastric mucosal lesions: for acute gastritis and during acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis, administer 200 mg twice a day or 400 mg once a day.
Children's dosage
Children: Administer 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight divided into oral doses daily.

This medication is effective for various gastrointestinal diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ulcers, ulcers caused by surgery, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also used to improve gastric mucosal lesions such as erosions, bleeding, erythema, and edema during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. It helps to protect the gastric mucosa and alleviate inflammation, thereby improving symptoms. Therefore, it is actively used in the treatment of these gastrointestinal diseases and the recovery of mucosal damage.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

Adults: For cimetidine, take 400 mg orally twice a day (in the morning and at bedtime) or 800 mg once a day (at bedtime). Additionally, take 300 mg orally four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). The dose may be increased up to 1.6 g, administering 400 mg four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). Precautions

This medication should be used with caution when administering glass ampoules, as glass fragments may enter the solution upon breaking the container. Special care is required when administering to children or elderly patients. It should not be prescribed to patients who have hypersensitivity to this medication or are taking dofetilide. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, elderly patients, children under 19 years of age, and patients undergoing dialysis may require dose adjustment or modification of administration intervals, and caution should be exercised in patients with gastric cancer or Helicobacter pylori infection. This medication may affect various organs such as blood, liver, and kidneys, so if any unusual symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought. If hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, shock, or breathing difficulties occur, use should be stopped immediately. This medication may also cause endocrine disorders such as gynecomastia, increased milk secretion, and erectile dysfunction, so if symptoms occur, consultation with a doctor is necessary. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal distension, constipation, and diarrhea may occur, so caution is advised. Neurological symptoms such as headache, dizziness, seizures, and mental confusion may occur, so if any signs appear, inform medical personnel immediately. Arrhythmias or severe skin rashes may occur, necessitating immediate action if these symptoms arise. This medication has significant interactions with other drugs, especially anticoagulants, antidepressants, antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers, and antifungal agents; dose adjustment should be discussed with a physician when taken together. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication only if the therapeutic benefit is determined to outweigh the risks, and breastfeeding should be discontinued while using this medication. The safety of this medication in children has not been sufficiently established, so it should be used with caution. Elderly patients are likely to have decreased kidney function; therefore, the dose should be reduced or the administration interval increased. Overdose may lead to respiratory depression, necessitating immediate appropriate treatment at a hospital. When administered in injection form, rapid intravenous injection should be avoided, and it should be administered slowly to reduce the risk of adverse effects. Store out of reach of children, and avoid changing containers as it may adversely affect quality.

  • Urticaria, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor → shock, anaphylaxis-like reaction (severe allergic reaction)
  • Severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes → Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), epidermal necrosis, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, generalized exfoliative erythroderma (severe skin reaction)
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks
