Effective for treating respiratory infections and urinary tract infections
This medication is effective against a variety of bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, and Salmonella, and is used to treat various infections. It is effective for respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis and for community-acquired pneumonia. It is also used for infections of the ear, nose, and throat, as well as acute uncomplicated cystitis, acute pyelonephritis, and complicated urinary tract infections. It can also treat gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal infections, and infections of the biliary tract. It is used for various infections including skin and soft tissue infections, bone/joint infections, gynecological infections, and peritonitis. However, it should be used cautiously in some conditions only when no other treatment options are available. This medication is effectively used for treating various infections.
As ciprofloxacin, administer 250 ~ 500 mg once, twice daily orally between meals. For severe complicated infections, the dose may be increased to 750 mg once, twice daily. For acute infections, treatment usually lasts for 5 ~ 10 days, and even after symptoms resolve, it should be continued for at least an additional 3 days. The dosage should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance in patients with renal impairment. - Creatinine clearance > 50 mL/min
This medication may cause serious side effects including tendonitis or tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system issues, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis. If these symptoms occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and individuals with a history of myasthenia gravis should not use this medication. This medication is only recommended for certain infections such as acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, and acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and should only be used when no other treatments are available. Caution is required for elderly patients, patients with impaired kidney function, and those taking corticosteroids, as the risk of tendon rupture is increased. If pain or inflammation in the tendons is experienced while taking this medication, it should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought, with rest and limitation of movement being necessary. Patients with myasthenia gravis should be particularly cautious as their symptoms may worsen with this medication. This medication should not be administered to pregnant or nursing women, adolescents under 18, epilepsy patients, and individuals allergic to this medication or similar drugs. Patients taking certain medications such as tizanidine or ketoprofen should not take this medication concurrently due to the risk of side effects. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, a history of seizure disorders, elderly patients, and those with severe myasthenia gravis should be very cautious when using this medication. This medication can cause various serious side effects, so any unusual symptoms or discomfort should be reported to a healthcare professional immediately. Additionally, this medication can interact with other medications, so any other medications being taken should be disclosed to a healthcare provider. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication or should stop breastfeeding, and it should not be used in children and adolescents. Elderly patients should have their dosage and administration intervals adjusted due to potentially increased drug concentrations due to kidney function decline. Overdose can cause kidney damage, so rapid treatment and appropriate measures are necessary in emergencies. Finally, this medication should be stored away from direct sunlight and ultraviolet light, and kept out of reach of children.
Tendon rupture, exacerbation of myasthenia gravis, anaphylactic reactions, anaphylactic shock, serum sickness-like reactions, seizures, syncope, mental confusion, status epilepticus, nerve paralysis, visual disturbances, confusion of consciousness, liver dysfunction, jaundice, liver necrosis, acute kidney failure, acute worsening of kidney function, rhabdomyolysis, hepatitis, cholestatic jaundice, toxic epidermal necrolysis (Lyell's syndrome), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis.
Tendonitis, peripheral neuropathy, central nervous system effects, exacerbation of myasthenia gravis, fungal superinfection, hematologic abnormalities (eosinophilia, phlebitis, anemia, leukopenia, etc.), SIADH, allergic reactions, allergic edema, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, gastrointestinal discomfort, vomiting, psychomotor agitation, confusion, disorientation, depression, hallucinations, headache, dizziness, sleep disorders, taste disorders, insomnia, tremors, drowsiness, migraines, visual disturbances.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container to prevent exposure to air or moisture and kept at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Storing it this way will help maintain its effectiveness for a longer period.
