Treatment and prevention of fungal infections of the skin and nails, mucous membranes and cornea, and systemic fungal infections
This medication is effective against various fungal infections including candidal vulvovaginitis, tinea versicolor, various dermatophyte infections of the body, oral candidiasis, fungal keratitis, and onychomycosis. It is also used to treat systemic fungal infections such as aspergillosis, candidiasis, cryptococcosis (including meningitis), and paracoccidioidomycosis. The liquid form is particularly useful for the treatment of oral and esophageal candidiasis in immunocompromised patients and for the prevention of systemic fungal infections in specific hematologic cancer patients or those undergoing bone marrow transplants. This helps to effectively improve symptoms caused by fungal infections.
