Treats infections of the urinary and reproductive tracts, respiratory tract, and intestines, as well as skin, soft tissue, eye, ear, nose, and dental infections
This medication is effective against various bacterial infections and is widely used to treat skin infections, bronchial and lung diseases, urinary tract infections, gastroenteritis, female reproductive infections, and infections related to the eyes and ears. It is especially effective for skin and soft tissue infections such as folliculitis, pustular acne, necrotizing fasciitis, and lymphadenitis, as well as the acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and community-acquired pneumonia. It is also used to treat various infections such as acute pyelonephritis, cystitis, prostatitis, gonococcal urethritis, bacterial dysentery, endometrial infections, blepharitis, otitis media, sinusitis, and periodontitis. However, due to the properties of fluoroquinolones, serious adverse reactions may occur, so it should be used cautiously in patients with acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media where other treatments are not feasible. Therefore, this medication is recommended for the treatment of various bacterial infections and can be used safely according to the patient’s condition.
1. Administer 100 ~ 200 mg of lomefloxacin orally 2 ~ 3 times daily. 2. However, for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, including chronic bronchitis, the usual adult dose of this medicine is 400 mg orally once daily, with or without food. The duration of administration depends on the severity of infection, but is usually up to 14 days; treatment should continue for at least 2 days after the signs and symptoms of infection have resolved. 3. Patients with renal impairment 1) In patients with a creatinine clearance of less than 30 mL/min, administer 400 mg of this medicine as a single initial dose, followed by 200 mg once daily starting the next day. 2) In patients undergoing hemodialysis, administer 400 mg of this medicine as a single initial dose, followed by 200 mg once daily starting the next day. 3) No dose adjustment is necessary in patients with hepatic impairment; adjust the dose according to renal function.

Furthermore, it is used only restrictively in certain infections such as acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. Caution is required in elderly patients, those with impaired kidney function, and those co-administered with corticosteroids as the risk of tendon rupture may increase. This medication should not be administered to adolescents under 18, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, and patients with a history of hypersensitivity. It should also be used cautiously in patients with a history of seizure disorders, severe renal impairment, elderly patients, and those with a history of aneurysms or heart valve disease.
