Additionally, individuals allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics should also avoid this medication. It is not administered to patients suffering from a specific infectious disease known as infectious mononucleosis. This drug contains lactose; thus, it should not be used in patients who cannot genetically break down lactose or those with galactose intolerance or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Extreme caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions. Individuals allergic to penicillin antibiotics must also use it carefully. Those with a family history of asthma, skin rashes, or hives should be mindful as allergic symptoms can easily manifest. Patients with severely decreased kidney function should consult their physician before use, and careful monitoring is required during administration. Elderly patients or those who have difficulty swallowing or poor nutritional status may develop vitamin K deficiency and should be managed carefully. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders, particularly colitis, should also use it carefully. Furthermore, individuals allergic to the yellow 5 dye included in this medication must inform their healthcare provider before use. During use, this medication may rarely cause shock or severe allergic reactions; if symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and inform the healthcare provider. Rare blood-related adverse reactions such as thrombocytopenia or leukopenia may occur, and if symptoms appear, evaluation is necessary. Hepatic dysfunction or renal function decline may also rarely develop, so consult a healthcare provider if abnormal symptoms arise. Gastrointestinal side effects may include diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, and if severe diarrhea or blood in stools occurs, discontinue use immediately. If respiratory problems or pneumonia symptoms appear, prompt treatment is necessary. Oral inflammation or infections such as candidiasis may occur, so monitor oral conditions closely. Neurological symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, and headaches may also appear. Symptoms of vitamin deficiency, particularly bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency, should also be monitored. Other rare reports include genital itching or infections and joint pain. When using this medication, it is advisable to take it only for the minimal duration necessary to prevent the development of resistant bacteria. Adequate medical history is necessary to reduce the likelihood of allergic reactions. If an allergic reaction occurs, discontinue the medication immediately and seek appropriate treatment. Caution is required when concomitantly using medications that can affect the kidneys to prevent renal function deterioration. Additionally, co-administration with probenecid may increase the blood concentration of this drug, requiring careful attention. During pregnancy, safety has not been established, so it should only be used when absolutely necessary, and caution is required during breastfeeding. Elderly patients have reduced bodily functions, making them more susceptible to adverse reactions, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and closely monitored. There is also an increased risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency. This medication may affect some clinical test results, so inform medical personnel of usage before tests.
