This drug is an antibiotic that works by binding to certain proteins to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, thereby killing bacteria. Patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions, such as shock, to this drug should not use it. Patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this drug or similar antibiotics should also avoid it. Special caution should be taken for patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics, those predisposed to bronchial asthma or skin allergic symptoms, and those with severely impaired kidney function when using this drug. Patients who have difficulty with oral intake, elderly patients, and those in poor overall health should be closely monitored as they may show Vitamin K deficiency symptoms. Patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis, should also exercise caution when using this drug. This drug can rarely cause severe shock or allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis, so if any abnormal symptoms occur, immediate discontinuation and appropriate treatment are required. Severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis can occur, so skin conditions should be monitored closely. Various blood abnormalities such as leukopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia can occur in blood tests, so regular tests should be conducted, and if abnormalities are detected, discontinuation should occur. Liver dysfunction or kidney function deterioration can occur, so liver and kidney conditions should be periodically monitored. This drug can cause severe colitis such as pseudomembranous colitis; if abdominal pain or diarrhea becomes severe, medical attention should be sought immediately. Respiratory symptoms or central nervous system abnormal symptoms can rarely appear, so it is important to report these symptoms immediately. Long-term use of this drug can lead to fungal infections such as oral candidiasis. There is also a rare risk of bleeding tendencies due to Vitamin K deficiency or symptoms of Vitamin B complex deficiency, thus vigilance is advised. When using this medication, it is recommended to check the susceptibility of the infective bacteria and administer it only for the minimum necessary duration to prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria. Interactions with other medications should be monitored, as the risk of side effects may increase when used with certain antacids or medications affecting the kidneys. When used with anticoagulants, the risk of bleeding may increase, necessitating regular checks of blood coagulation status. The effectiveness of oral contraceptives may be reduced, so it is recommended to use additional contraceptive methods. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should use this drug with caution only if absolutely necessary, as its safety has not been fully established; care should also be taken during breastfeeding. It is advisable not to use this drug in newborns as its safety and efficacy have not been established. Elderly patients may exhibit side effects more readily due to diminished body function, so dosage and administration intervals should be adjusted and closely monitored.
