Treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease, improvement of gastric mucosal lesions
This medication is used for various gastrointestinal diseases such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, recurrent ulcers, anastomotic ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also effective in improving gastric mucosal lesions such as erosions, bleeding, erythema, and edema that occur during exacerbations of acute and chronic gastritis. It helps alleviate symptoms of these conditions and protects the gastric mucosa, aiding in rapid recovery. Therefore, this drug is a reliable choice for treating gastric mucosal diseases and improving symptoms.
Adults: Cimetidine 400 mg, administered orally twice a day (morning and bedtime) or 800 mg once a day (at bedtime). Additionally, 300 mg can be administered orally four times a day (after meals and at bedtime). The dose may be increased to 400 mg four times a day (after meals and at bedtime) up to a total of 1.6 g. For gastric mucosal lesions (erosions, bleeding, erythema, edema) associated with the following conditions: acute gastritis, exacerbation of chronic gastritis.
Children: Administer 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight divided orally per day.
This medication should be used with great caution when using glass ampule injections due to the risk of glass fragments entering the solution, especially in children and the elderly. It should not be administered to patients with allergies or a history of hypersensitivity to cimetidine or other components of this medication, to patients at risk for specific arrhythmias, and to those with genetic issues like lactose intolerance. Patients with kidney or liver function problems, elderly patients, children under 19 years, and patients undergoing hemodialysis may require dosage adjustment or changes in administration intervals, and caution is needed as symptoms of gastric cancer may be masked. This medication can cause various adverse reactions affecting the blood, liver, kidneys, skin, and nervous system, so immediate consultation with medical personnel is essential when symptoms occur. During treatment, it is important to carefully monitor the progression of the disease, change treatment methods if ineffective, and perform regular blood, liver, and kidney function tests. This medication can interact with many other drugs; therefore, if other medications are being taken, it is imperative to inform the medical staff, and dosage adjustments or temporary cessation may be necessary. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult with medical personnel before administration to carefully consider the potential impact on the fetus or newborn. Safety has not been sufficiently confirmed for children, so it should only be administered in special cases, and dosage may need to be reduced or intervals extended in the elderly due to decreased kidney function. In case of overdose, serious side effects such as respiratory depression may occur, so precise adherence to the prescribed dosage as directed by healthcare providers is essential, and immediate medical attention is required if side effects arise. If used in injection form, rapid intravenous administration may induce arrhythmias or hypotension, so it should be administered slowly. Store in a safe place out of reach of children and do not transfer to other containers to maintain the safety and quality of the medication.
