Treatment of dermatophyte infections (such as athlete's foot, tinea corporis, etc.) and onychomycosis
This medication is used for the treatment of dermatophyte infections of the skin such as athlete's foot, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and onychomycosis in adults. It is also effectively used for tinea capitis in children. It helps improve symptoms by treating fungal infections of the skin and nails.
As terbinafine, administer 125 mg once daily twice, or 250 mg once daily. Treatment duration depends on the condition: 1) Dermatophyte infections - Athlete's foot (interdigital, plantar/moccasin type): 2 to 6 weeks, Tinea corporis: 2 to 4 weeks, Tinea cruris: 2 to 4 weeks. 2) Onychomycosis - Generally treated for 6 weeks to 3 months. If infection occurs in toenails or relatively small toes, or in younger patients, treatment duration may be shortened to less than 3 months. Treatment for nail infections usually lasts about 3 months, but some patients may require 6 months or longer. In cases where nail growth is slow, treatment duration may be extended.
Administered to children aged 2 and above. For tinea capitis: 4 weeks. 1) Under 20 kg (under 5 years): 62.5 mg once daily. Administer based on consideration of the benefits and risks of treatment.
