Adult administration
1) Intravenous injection Administer 200 mg as cimetidine every 4 to 6 hours. Do not exceed 2 g per day. 2) Infusion via intravenous drip Administer 200 mg as this medication every 4 to 6 hours for a duration of 2 hours. The maximum infusion rate should not exceed 150 mg per hour or 2 mg/kg/hour. For continuous intravenous infusion, an average infusion rate should not exceed 75 mg per hour over 24 hours.
Child administration
Administer as a divided intravenous dose of 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight per day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

This medicine is used to treat Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and upper gastrointestinal bleeding, especially bleeding due to peptic ulcers, acute stress ulcers, and hemorrhagic gastritis.

How it is given

Adult administration

1) Intravenous injection Administer 200 mg as cimetidine every 4 to 6 hours. Do not exceed 2 g per day. 2) Infusion via intravenous drip Administer 200 mg as this medication every 4 to 6 hours for a duration of 2 hours. The maximum infusion rate should not exceed 150 mg per hour or 2 mg/kg/hour. For continuous intravenous infusion, an average infusion rate should not exceed 75 mg per hour over 24 hours.

Child administration

Administer as a divided intravenous dose of 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight per day. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

Caution should be taken when using glass ampoule injections as glass fragments may contaminate the product. Care is especially needed when treating children and the elderly. This medication should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components or a history of such reactions. Additionally, patients taking dofetilide, which may increase the risk of specific cardiac arrhythmias, should not use this drug. Patients with impaired kidney or liver function, the elderly, children under 19 years of age, and patients on hemodialysis should use this medication with caution. It may hide symptoms of stomach cancer, so it should be administered only after confirming malignancy, and patients with Helicobacter pylori infection require eradication treatment. This drug can cause various side effects, including decreased blood cell count, liver function abnormalities, kidney dysfunction, hypersensitivity reactions, endocrine disorders, digestive symptoms, neurological issues, cardiovascular issues, and skin aberrations. If any of these symptoms occur, inform a healthcare professional immediately and discontinue use. If there is no therapeutic effect or side effects occur, a different treatment method may be necessary. Elderly patients or those with chronic conditions may have an increased risk of pneumonia and should be monitored closely. Due to numerous drug interactions, it is essential to discuss any concurrent medications with healthcare providers. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant and nursing mothers should carefully consider the risks and benefits of using this medication, and it is advisable to avoid breastfeeding while using this drug. The safety of this medication in children has not been sufficiently established and should be used only under special circumstances. Elderly patients may experience increased drug concentration due to renal impairment, thus requiring dosage adjustments. Overdose may result in severe symptoms such as respiratory depression, and immediate emergency care should be sought. Slow administration is necessary as rapid intravenous injection may cause arrhythmias or hypotension. Store in a safe place out of reach of children, and avoid transferring to other containers.

  • Yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice), systemic.
