Precautions

This medication carries the risk of causing tendon-related disorders such as tendonitis or tendon rupture, so if these symptoms appear, use should be discontinued immediately. Peripheral neuropathy or central nervous system disturbances may also occur, necessitating caution if neurological abnormalities arise. This medication should not be used in patients with myasthenia gravis, as it may worsen symptoms. It should be used under limited circumstances for specific infections such as acute bacterial rhinosinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, uncomplicated urinary tract infections, and acute otitis media. When administered via injection, it should be administered slowly according to the rate of intravenous infusion, and if blood pressure drops suddenly during administration, it should be stopped immediately. Elderly patients, those with renal impairment, patients on high doses, and those taking corticosteroids should avoid concomitant use and be monitored closely due to an increased risk of tendon rupture. This medication can provoke seizures; therefore, caution is required in patients with a history of epilepsy or central nervous system disorders. Hypersensitivity or severe allergic reactions may occur; if symptoms such as skin rash, itching, or difficulty breathing occur, use should be discontinued immediately. Gastrointestinal disturbances like nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may occur, so caution is necessary if symptoms develop. Neuropsychiatric symptoms like headaches, dizziness, insomnia, and occasionally hallucinations or confusions may present, and abnormal symptoms should be reported. Cardiovascular side effects such as tachycardia, hypotension, and, rarely, arrhythmias, require caution in patients with heart disease. Musculoskeletal issues such as arthralgia, myalgia, tendonitis, and tendon rupture, particularly Achilles tendon rupture, should be monitored. It may affect liver and kidney function, necessitating monitoring if liver enzyme levels are elevated or signs of renal impairment occur. Blood disorders may appear, so immediate notification is required for symptoms such as leukopenia or thrombocytopenia. It may cause photosensitivity reactions, so strong sunlight or ultraviolet exposure should be avoided, and use should be discontinued if skin abnormalities appear. Dizziness or drowsiness may occur during driving or operating machinery, necessitating caution. To prevent the emergence of resistant organisms, it is important to administer the drug only for the necessary duration after susceptibility testing. It should not be used in pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, or growing children and adolescents. Due to drug interactions, it is essential to consult with a doctor or pharmacist when taking other medications, especially blood glucose-lowering agents, anticoagulants, and steroids. In cases of overdose, central nervous system symptoms and arrhythmias may appear, requiring immediate emergency treatment. This medication should be stored under appropriate conditions, and should be used as soon as possible after opening.
