Precautions

This drug should not be used in certain patients. Patients who have had severe allergic reactions or shock after using this medication and those who are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics should not be given this drug. Additionally, patients with a history of hypersensitivity reactions to this medication or cephalosporins should be administered with extreme caution. Patients who are allergic to penicillin-type antibiotics should also be careful. Patients with a family history of allergies like asthma, rash, or hives, patients with severely impaired renal function, patients who have difficulty swallowing orally, elderly patients, and those in poor general condition should be particularly cautious when using this medication. This medication may rarely cause severe allergic reactions, shock, rash, itching, fever, swelling, and other hypersensitivity reactions; if any unusual symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. In the gastrointestinal system, symptoms like diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and discomfort in the upper abdomen may occur, and in rare cases, severe colitis may develop, so if abdominal pain or diarrhea worsens, a doctor should be consulted immediately. Respiratory problems such as cough, difficulty breathing, or pneumonia may occur rarely; if symptoms appear, treatment should be stopped and medical attention is needed. Blood abnormalities may result in decreased blood cell counts or anemia, thus regular blood tests are necessary. In the central nervous system, seizures have been reported rarely, so patients with diminished renal function should be particularly vigilant in dose adjustments. Severe rashes or significant skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome may occur, necessitating close monitoring of the skin condition. Liver function impairment may arise, so liver function tests are required, and deterioration of renal function may also occur rarely, making regular testing important. This medication may cause vitamin K deficiency, leading to bleeding tendencies; immediate reporting of any bleeding symptoms is crucial. Long-term use of this medication may result in fungal infections such as stomatitis or candidiasis. To prevent the development of resistant bacteria, this medication should only be used for the minimum necessary duration, and allergy history and any potential for shock should be thoroughly checked before administration. Capsule and suspension forms have different biological activities, so caution is needed when switching between them. Patients with decreased renal function may experience seizures if doses are not adjusted, so any unusual symptoms should prompt immediate consultation with a physician. This medication may enhance the effects of warfarin when used together, increasing the risk of bleeding, so care must be taken. Additionally, it may elevate serum concentrations of carbamazepine and could worsen kidney damage when taken with other nephrotoxic drugs, so caution is warranted. Safety during pregnancy has not been established, so it should only be used when the benefits of treatment are deemed greater than the risks, and breastfeeding should be avoided during administration. It is not recommended for infants, particularly neonates or premature infants under 6 months of age, as safety has not been established. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily functions making them more susceptible to adverse reactions, so dose and interval adjustments should be made, with careful monitoring of their condition. This medication may affect certain clinical test results, so care is needed when interpreting test outcomes. The powdered form should not be mixed with milk or juice and left standing for long periods, and the prepared suspension should not be stored for more than 2 weeks. Lastly, it has been reported in animal studies that high-dose administration may inhibit sperm formation, so caution is needed when used in high doses over long periods.
