This medication should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nor by nursing mothers. It should also not be administered to patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, perforation, etc., as this drug may stimulate gastrointestinal motility and cause harm. Patients with specific conditions that can cause hypertension due to tumors should also refrain from using this medication. Patients who have allergic reactions or intolerance to this medication should avoid it. Its use is not appropriate for patients with liver disease or those at certain stages of mental illness. Patients with breast disease should be cautious, as this medication may increase prolactin secretion and exacerbate breast problems. Caution should be exercised when administering this medication to patients with hypertension, children, and the elderly, especially since children are more likely to experience side effects and should avoid overdosing. This medication may cause symptoms such as menstrual irregularities, excessive lactation, and gynecomastia due to hormonal imbalance, so it should be discontinued immediately if these symptoms occur. Neurologic side effects such as movement disorders or abnormal tongue movements, anxiety, etc., can occur rarely, and the medication should be stopped if these symptoms arise. Long-term use may lead to persistent involuntary movements around the mouth, requiring caution. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation may also occur. This medication can cause cardiovascular side effects such as elevated blood pressure and arrhythmia. During antipsychotic treatment, serious neuroleptic malignant syndrome can occur rarely. If symptoms such as high fever, muscle rigidity, or altered consciousness occur, the medication should be discontinued immediately, and emergency treatment should be sought. If a skin rash or swelling occurs, the medication should be stopped, and occasionally symptoms like flushing, fatigue, insomnia, drowsiness, dizziness, erectile dysfunction, etc., may occur. Long-term use can cause side effects such as menstrual irregularities due to hormonal changes, but these are usually reversible. This medication may cause side effects such as the leakage of breast milk due to increased prolactin secretion, so patients should be thoroughly informed in advance. The decision to administer it should be made cautiously, considering the risk of endocrine dysfunction and neurologic side effects. It is advisable to avoid activities requiring concentration, such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery, during treatment. High doses may cause cardiac irregularities, so patients with heart diseases or the elderly should be especially cautious. Caution should also be taken when using this medication in patients at risk of stroke. Caution should be exercised regarding interactions with other medications. The gastrointestinal motility-enhancing effect of this medication may be reduced when used with certain analgesics or anticholinergics, so co-administration should be avoided. Patients taking cardiovascular medications should monitor their symptoms closely and administer with caution. Co-administration with other benzamide medications increases the risk of endocrine and neurological side effects, necessitating caution. Special care should be taken when used with psychiatric medications due to the possibility of adverse reactions, and it should not be combined with alcohol. The risk increases when used with medications that have potential for cardiac arrhythmias, requiring careful monitoring. Co-administration with medications that cause electrolyte imbalances should be avoided. Pregnant or nursing women should not take this medication as its safety for fetuses and newborns has not been established. The elderly may experience prolonged retention of the medication in the body due to decreased kidney function, so dose adjustments and careful monitoring of side effects are necessary. This medication has an antiemetic effect, which may obscure vomiting symptoms due to other causes, so it should be used with caution while monitoring the conditions closely. Animal studies have reported potential reproductive toxicity and tumor formation, so caution is advised with long-term use.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
