Adult dose
For mild to moderate infections such as recurrent tonsillitis, administer 25 mg/3.6 mg of amoxicillin/clavulanate potassium per kg of body weight divided into two doses per day. For severe infections such as otitis media or sinusitis, administer 45 mg/6.4 mg per kg of body weight divided into two doses per day. To minimize potential gastrointestinal intolerance, administer at the beginning of meals. Absorption of amoxicillin-clavulanate is optimized when administered at the start of meals.
Child dose
This drug is not suitable for infants under 2 months of age. It is also not suitable for pediatric patients with renal insufficiency.

This medication is effective against various bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. It is used to treat respiratory infections such as acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema, and lung abscess. It is also suitable for urinary infections like cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis, as well as for the treatment of gonorrhea and pelvic infections. It is helpful for skin and soft tissue infections, abscesses, and the treatment of osteomyelitis and dental infections. In summary, this drug is highly effective for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections.

How to take

Adult dose

Precautions

This drug contains the artificial sweetener aspartame and should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria. The daily allowable amount of aspartame is restricted according to body weight, so only the minimum amount should be used. It should not be administered to patients who have had hypersensitivity reactions to this drug's components or penicillin antibiotics, or those with a history of infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, or liver dysfunction. Patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic metabolic disorders should also avoid use. Caution is advised in patients with impaired liver or kidney function, allergic tendencies, the elderly, and those in poor general health. While taking this drug, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain may occur; if these symptoms are severe, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. In cases of symptoms of liver dysfunction, skin rashes, or respiratory distress due to allergic reactions, discontinue use immediately and seek appropriate treatment. This drug may interact with other medications, so inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this drug with caution only if necessary, especially avoiding use in early pregnancy. It is advisable to avoid use in premature or newborn infants due to established safety concerns. The elderly should be monitored for adverse reactions due to potential declines in bodily function, adjusting dosage and intervals as necessary. It is important to regularly check liver and kidney function and perform blood tests while taking this medication. Hives, severe swelling, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweats, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in the mucous membranes of the mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory complications accompanying cough and fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headaches, thunderclap headaches, seizures, confusion, visual disturbances, paralysis, changes in urine output.

Mild side effects

Diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, dyspepsia, stomatitis, gastritis, glossitis, black hairy tongue, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, colonic pain, acid dyspepsia, soft stools, dry mouth, candidiasis, severe colitis with bloody stools, itching, erythema multiforme, mucocutaneous syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, vesicular peeling dermatitis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, eosinophilia, angioedema, serum sickness syndrome, hypersensitivity vasculitis, acute generalized allergic reactions.
