Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who are allergic to certain components or have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics. Patients with viral infections, such as infectious mononucleosis or lymphocytic leukemia, are at a higher risk for developing rashes when using this medication and should exercise caution. Patients with liver function issues or a history of liver damage associated with this medication or penicillin should use it cautiously due to the risk of recurrence. Patients with liver dysfunction or moderate to severe renal impairment should adjust the dosage and administration intervals, especially those with allergic tendencies. Moreover, patients who have difficulty taking orally, elderly patients, or patients in poor general condition are at risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency and should be cautious. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may occur, and in severe cases, serious side effects such as pseudomembranous colitis or acute pancreatitis may develop, so if symptoms occur, discontinue the medication immediately and consult a doctor. Symptoms of liver dysfunction have also been reported; therefore, especially elderly patients over 60 years and male patients should undergo regular liver function tests and monitoring. Rarely, severe skin rashes or anaphylaxis may occur; thus, if such symptoms arise, discontinue administration immediately and follow the instructions of medical personnel. Abnormalities such as leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, and anemia may appear in blood tests, so regular blood tests are needed for long-term use. This medication is excreted through the kidneys; thus, patients with impaired renal function should carefully monitor their kidney function along with dose adjustments. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication under the judgment of a physician after thoroughly considering its potential effects on the fetus or infant, and it is especially advised to avoid use during the first three months of pregnancy. Elderly patients are more prone to side effects due to decreased physiological functions, requiring adjustment of dosage and administration intervals, and should use it cautiously. While taking this medication, potential interactions with other drugs may occur, so patients should inform the medical personnel of any medications they are taking, especially when co-administering anticoagulants or certain antibiotics. In cases of overdose, symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain may appear, and in severe cases, renal failure or seizures may occur; thus, immediate medical attention is required. This medication should be stored in a sealed container to protect it from air and moisture. Additionally, it must be kept in a cool, dry place at or below 25 degrees Celsius to maintain its effectiveness.
