Precautions

This medication contains two active ingredients, budesonide and formoterol, and is used for the treatment of respiratory diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. First, this medicine should not be used by individuals who are allergic to budesonide, formoterol, or any of the excipients contained within it, and it is not recommended for children under the age of 6. Patients who have had issues with adrenal function due to prior systemic steroid treatment need to take precautions while using this medication. Common side effects may include symptoms such as tremors and palpitations, which are typically mild and resolve within a few days. Additionally, patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease may experience skin bruising or pneumonia, so caution is advised. This medication may cause a fungal infection called candidiasis in the mouth and throat, so it is essential to rinse the mouth with water after inhalation to maintain oral hygiene. Long-term use of high doses can lead to systemic side effects such as reduced adrenal function, growth delay, decreased bone density, cataracts, and glaucoma; thus, it should be used at the appropriate dosage as directed by a physician. During the use of this medication, immediate medical attention should be sought if there is a sudden worsening of asthma or change in symptoms, and when discontinuing treatment, the dosage should be reduced gradually. Diabetic patients should monitor their blood glucose levels, as there may be a risk of hypokalemia; it is recommended to check potassium levels if necessary. The effectiveness of this medication may be reduced when used in conjunction with beta-blockers, so if you are taking beta-blockers, you must consult your healthcare provider. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the benefits and risks associated with the use of this medication, and especially during early pregnancy, it is safer to consult a physician before use. In children, regular monitoring of growth is necessary, and if growth delay is suspected, the treatment regimen should be reevaluated. In case of overdose, symptoms such as tremors, headaches, palpitations, and hypokalemia may occur; thus, any unusual symptoms must be reported to healthcare professionals immediately. The inhaler of this medication should be kept clean and should not be washed with water or liquid; it should be wiped regularly with a dry cloth. Lastly, this medication does not affect driving or operating machinery, but caution is advised if unusual symptoms occur during use.
