Summary

Main use
Treatment of chronic open-angle glaucoma and reduction of elevated intraocular pressure
Who applies the drops
Adults
Adult eye dose
Instill 1 drop twice daily, usually. In some patients, it may take several weeks for the intraocular pressure-lowering response to this medicine to stabilize. Intraocular pressure should be monitored continuously during the first month of treatment; thereafter, the individual target intraocular pressure should be determined at the physician’s discretion. In patients already being treated with another glaucoma medicine, continue the current medicine and add 1 drop of this medicine twice daily. On the second day, completely discontinue the previous glaucoma medicine and continue treatment with this medicine. Because intraocular pressure varies during the day in each individual, whether the twice-daily regimen is sufficient should be determined by measuring intraocular pressure at different times. Since an intraocular pressure of 22 mmHg or lower is not adequate for controlling glaucoma, drug therapy should be individualized. If the patient’s intraocular pressure is not adequately controlled with this method, this medicine may be administered in combination with pilocarpine, other miotics, epinephrine, or carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. In patients using multiple glaucoma medicines concomitantly, treatment should be individualized. Adjust one medicine at a time, at intervals of at least 1 week. The recommended method is to continue the current medicines and instill 1 drop of this medicine twice daily. The following day, discontinue one of the other glaucoma medicines; the remaining medicines may be reduced or discontinued according to the patient’s response to treatment. The physician may discontinue some or all of the other glaucoma medicines.
