Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have experienced a shock reaction due to it in the past. Additionally, this medication contains lactose, so patients with genetic disorders such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. Patients with a history of allergic reactions to this drug or similar cephalosporins should not be administered this drug unless necessary, and caution should be exercised when needed. Patients with a penicillin allergy should also be cautious. Patients who are prone to allergic reactions, such as bronchial asthma, skin rashes, and urticaria, should take caution before taking this medication. Patients with severely impaired kidney function may need to adjust dosage and exercise caution as the excretion of this medication may be slower. Patients who are unable to take medications orally, those receiving parenteral nutrition, elderly patients, and patients in poor health should be carefully monitored for symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis. If discomfort, abnormal sensations in the mouth, wheezing, dizziness, constipation, tinnitus, sweating, or other symptoms occur during administration, treatment should be immediately discontinued. If hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes, urticaria, fever, or arthralgia occur, medication should be stopped, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Gastrointestinally, serious colitis such as pseudomembranous colitis can rarely occur, and if abdominal pain or diarrhea worsens, the use should be immediately stopped. Respiratory issues such as interstitial pneumonia or eosinophilic pneumonia may occur, and treatment should be stopped if respiratory distress or fever occurs. Blood tests may reveal eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia or thrombocytosis, leukopenia, etc., so caution should be exercised upon discovery of abnormal signs. Neurologically, in cases of poor kidney function, symptoms such as altered perception, behavioral abnormalities, or seizures may occur. Severe skin adverse reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and systemic symptoms due to drug reactions may occur rarely, so careful observation of the skin condition is necessary. Liver function abnormalities may arise, and kidney function tests may show hematuria or elevated creatinine levels, so regular testing is required. During this medication's use, superinfection phenomena such as stomatitis or candidiasis may rarely occur. Bleeding tendencies due to vitamin K deficiency or vitamin B group deficiency symptoms may also rarely occur, so caution is warranted. To prevent resistance development, it is recommended to perform susceptibility tests and use for the minimum necessary duration. To prevent shock reactions, it is advisable to conduct a medical interview and skin reaction tests before administration. Dizziness may occur during treatment, so caution is necessary when driving or operating machinery. For long-term use of more than 10 days, routine blood tests should be performed to monitor white blood cell counts. Patients with decreased kidney function may experience seizures if dosage is not adjusted, so care is needed when administering. Severe skin adverse reactions have been reported; if skin symptoms occur, immediately discontinue the medication and consider alternative therapy. This medication may burden the kidneys if used with diuretics or aminoglycoside antibiotics, so caution is needed when using in combination. Taking probenecid may slow the excretion of this medication, increasing blood concentration. Medications such as antacids or H2 antagonists may decrease the absorption of this medication, while gastric acid-reducing medicines or coadministration with food can increase absorption. During pregnancy, safety has not been established; it should only be used when the therapeutic effect outweighs the risks, and breastfeeding women should discontinue breastfeeding. Safety in children, especially in newborns or premature infants, and children under 2 months of age, is not guaranteed. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions and show more adverse reactions, thus dosage and intervals should be adjusted, with careful monitoring of their condition. This medication may cause false positive reactions in urine tests, so caution is needed in interpreting test results.
