Treatment of various bacterial infections such as respiratory infections and urinary tract infections
This medicine is effective in treating infections caused by various bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Shigella, and Salmonella. It is used for respiratory infections excluding acute bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia, and it is prescribed for infections of the ear, nose, throat, bacterial prostatitis, urinary tract infections, and more. Additionally, it is used to treat various infections including gonococcal cervicitis and urethritis, gastrointestinal and biliary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, osteoarticular infections, gynecological infections, peritonitis, and sebaceous cysts. However, it should be used cautiously only when there are no other treatment options available for certain diseases, and as a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, it can cause severe adverse reactions. In summary, this medicine effectively treats bacterial infections in various areas such as the respiratory, urinary, gastrointestinal, skin, and osteoarticular systems.
For adults, ciprofloxacin is usually administered orally between 250 to 500 mg twice daily between meals. In cases of severe complicated infections, the dose may be increased to 750 mg twice daily. For acute infections, treatment is generally given for 5 to 10 days, and should continue for at least 3 days after symptoms have resolved. For patients with kidney impairment, the dosage should be adjusted according to creatinine clearance, and in cases of severe infection, even patients with severe kidney impairment may require higher doses.

During treatment, avoid strong sunlight or UV exposure, and if you experience any skin abnormalities such as rash or itching, stop taking the medicine immediately. Additionally, because this can increase the risk of seizures, patients with epilepsy or central nervous system diseases should exercise caution and immediately report any changes in mental state or thoughts of self-harm to health care professionals. Diabetic patients requiring blood sugar control should monitor blood sugar changes closely, and if hypoglycemic symptoms occur, appropriate treatment should be received immediately. In cases of overdose, kidney function should be closely monitored, and appropriate treatment should be performed as necessary.
