Precautions

This drug is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by interfering with the synthesis of certain bacteria's cell walls. This drug should not be used in patients who have experienced severe allergic reactions or shock from this drug or from similar classes of antibiotics in the past. It should also be used with caution in patients who are allergic to penicillin antibiotics, those with allergic conditions, those with severely impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty taking medications orally, elderly patients, and patients with gastrointestinal diseases. Severe allergic reactions or shock may occur when using this drug, so symptoms should be closely monitored and the administration should be stopped immediately if any abnormalities arise. Serious skin reactions may occur, so if rashes, blisters, or skin peeling occur, the use of the drug should be stopped immediately and a doctor should be consulted. Blood abnormalities, liver and kidney function impairments, gastrointestinal issues, respiratory symptoms, and central nervous system symptoms may rarely occur, so regular check-ups are needed, and any abnormalities should be reported immediately. This drug can disrupt the normal bacterial balance in the intestines, leading to infections such as stomatitis or candidiasis, so caution is necessary. Rare symptoms of bleeding tendency due to vitamin K deficiency or vitamin B complex deficiency may occur, so the patient's condition should be carefully monitored. This drug should be administered only for the minimum necessary duration after susceptibility testing to prevent the development of resistant strains, and interactions may occur when used in combination with other antibiotics, so doctor's instructions should be followed. Particularly, in patients with impaired kidney function, dosage and intervals should be adjusted, and attention should be paid as nephrotoxicity may increase when used with certain medications. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established, and caution is also necessary when breastfeeding. It is advisable not to use this drug in infants under 1 month of age as its safety and efficacy have not been confirmed. Elderly patients are more susceptible to adverse reactions owing to weakened body functions and may have a risk of bleeding due to vitamin K deficiency, so extra caution is required. False positive results may occur in urine tests while taking this medication, so this information should be disclosed during testing.
