Preventive treatment and symptom control improvement for bronchial asthma (adults, children)
This medication is used to prevent and treat bronchial asthma. In adults, it stabilizes symptoms at varying stages of asthma from mild to severe, and reduces the need for bronchodilator use as needed. Especially for patients with severe asthma who are dependent on systemic corticosteroids, this medication can help reduce or discontinue the use of corticosteroids. Additionally, it is effective for preventive treatment in pediatric asthma patients who are not well-controlled with existing treatments. Overall, this medication helps manage asthma symptoms and improves quality of life.
This medication should only be administered via inhalation. Adults and youths over 16 years should take 100-1000 μg by inhalation twice daily. Adjust dosing according to the severity of the condition, with mild cases typically receiving 100-250 μg twice daily, moderate cases 250-500 μg twice daily, and severe cases 500-1000 μg twice daily. After administration, adjust the dosage according to individual response until asthma is controlled or the minimum effective dose is reached.
Children aged 4-16 years should take 50-100 μg by inhalation twice daily. Initiate dosing with 50-100 μg twice daily depending on the severity of asthma, and adjust the dose according to individual response.
This medication should not be used in patients with severe milk protein allergies or with a history of hypersensitivity to any of its components. It is not suitable for treating severe asthma conditions or as the first-line treatment during acute asthma attacks, and other treatments should be used. Patients with moderate to severe bronchiectasis should use this medication with caution. Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis or pulmonary fungal infections should be cautious when using this medication and should consult their doctor if they are undergoing treatment. Rarely, bronchospasm may occur while using this medication, so if symptoms appear, immediate consultation with healthcare professionals is required. Candidiasis, a fungal infection, may occur in the mouth and throat, so it is advisable to rinse the mouth thoroughly after inhalation. Long-term use at high doses may lead to systemic side effects such as adrenal insufficiency, growth retardation, cataracts, and glaucoma, so regular check-ups by a physician are necessary. This medication is not intended for treating acute asthma attacks; in case of sudden symptom worsening, a fast-acting bronchodilator should be used. During pregnancy, the risks and benefits should be evaluated by a physician; and during lactation, the effects on the newborn should also be taken into consideration. There may be drug interactions, especially when taken with certain medications such as Ritonavir, so it is essential to consult a doctor or pharmacist. In children, growth should be monitored regularly, and it is advisable to avoid use in children under the age of 4. Do not abruptly discontinue this medication; dosage should be gradually adjusted according to the doctor's instructions, and vigilance for adrenal insufficiency or asthma exacerbation should be maintained. Ensure proper usage of the inhaler, and rinse the mouth with water after use to prevent infections and side effects. Store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children and close the inhaler when not in use.
