It is also applied to ENT infections, kidney and urinary tract infections, and genital infections such as gonorrhea to help treat infections. It is effective in the treatment of serious infections such as sepsis and meningitis and can be used for the prevention of infections before and after surgery. For adults and children over 12 years, administer 1–2g (potency) of ceftriaxone once daily via intravenous or intramuscular injection. For infections caused by severe pathogens or pathogens demonstrating moderate susceptibility, the dose may be increased up to 4g (potency) once daily.

This medication should not be mixed or administered simultaneously with solutions or drugs containing calcium. Especially in neonates, because calcium can react with this drug to form precipitates, leading to serious side effects, it should not be administered under any circumstances. This drug should not be given to patients with allergies to it or those who have had hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporins or penicillin antibiotics. Also, patients who are hypersensitive to lidocaine should be cautious. This medication should not be administered to premature infants, infants with jaundice, or neonates with problems in bilirubin binding in the blood. It can displace bilirubin from serum albumin, increasing the risk of encephalopathy. When administering this medication, various side effects, including allergic reactions, blood abnormalities, gastrointestinal problems, liver function abnormalities, and kidney function abnormalities, may occur, so patients must be monitored closely. If severe allergic reactions or shock symptoms appear, administration should be stopped immediately, and emergency treatment should be implemented. During administration, it is important to regularly check liver and kidney functions and conduct blood tests to identify any abnormalities. Elderly patients or those with poor kidney function should have their dosage and administration intervals adjusted. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery due to potential side effects like dizziness. This drug may interact with other medications; therefore, careful monitoring is necessary, especially when used in conjunction with diuretics, aminoglycoside antibiotics, and vitamin K antagonists.
